The Cat’s Ask: A Story of Love and Adventure

Before this project it likely would not have occurred to us to start our own manufacturing company. We’ve been together for more than 20 years, lived abroad a couple of times, worked in various fields (most were media or technology related), and had many adventures.

But we had never made stuff.

So why a litterbox?

Though we both love animals, it wasn’t part of our master plan to adopt quite so many cats.

But, of course, love has its own logic.

In the summer of 2009 we rescued two feral kittens behind our Cape Breton summer house. A few years later, we rescued two more little wild things.

It was kind of like adopting runaways from Le Cirque du Soleil, and we loved everything about it—except the litter. Four cats created a shocking amount of landfill. And cleaning two litterboxes at least once a week was time-consuming and revolting.

It was our worst household job—by a wide margin!

We tried pretty much every litterbox on the market, but we didn’t like any of them. We thought: There HAS to be a better way.

Then, one day, inspiration struck. We actually did think of a better way!

After that came years of hard work. We found many talented people who believed in the project and were willing to stick with us for the proverbial long haul it takes to develop something on this scale.

So the story that started out with two scared kittens in the backyard has continued to expand and grow and to include many others.

We are excited as the adventure continues and we launch our crowdfunding campaign this fall!
