Monty, the first cat we rescued, was mild and friendly from day one. He is a warm, gentle soul. He is the first one to sit with you when you don’t feel well—he always seems to know—he even licks the other cats when they have hairballs. Sometimes he gives hugs. He is our most vocally demanding cat—which is why he is The Cat’s Ask Spokescat—and he really didn’t like his old litterbox! He has a huge appetite and always wants the most attention. He has expressive golden eyes and an extravagant tail. We always say to him, “Monty has a sail for a tail!” and he likes that. He also is very talented when it comes to growing fur—we tell him he is a fur genius.
Spitfire came into the house screaming bloody murder, which is how he got his name. He didn’t just hiss at us, he spit, which scared us more than a bit! We were worried he would remain feral forever, but after a few weeks he came around—now he’s wonderfully sweet and affectionate. He has a complex and intriguing personality, and the markings on his face remind us of an inscrutable tribal mask. He has an exaggerated loping walk like a miniature jungle cat, and many extra toes. Mark has dreams where Spitfire is his sidekick, which earned him the nickname “Little Dream”. He also likes to be sung to, and we sing him special songs that are about dreams.
Boo Boo is a playful, mischievous, fun-loving trickster, the kind of cat that likes to throw stuff off tables just to see what will happen. He loves to be bad, but he also loves to be good. He is adventurous and social, and enjoys the company of people young and old. Boo Boo is bold and fiercely independent. But he also has a vulnerable, sensitive side. At night he will snuggle and purr for hours. He has pale green eyes and a gleaming white coat. He is also nicknamed Dennis (as in Menace) and Snuggle Boo.
Blackstuff, nicknamed Tuffy, is a master of stealth, and was incredibly hard to catch. Mark had to sit absolutely still in a darkened garage where Blackstuff was hiding for an hour before he could grab him. Blackstuff’s habit of stealth and secrecy remains, and he operates like a spy or superhero. He is our Black Ops Cat. He has a sleek black coat and even has black markings on the upper palate of his mouth. He is shy about receiving pets but is loving them more all the time. We have a feeling he’s secretly running the show.
